TWO MUSEUM Adventure (in Norwich)
Leslie and I went to the Chenango County Historical Museum, had lunch at Bill's Diner and then went to the Bullthistle Model Train Museum, also in Norwich. It was a great day!

This man greeted us and gave us some information about the displays. He grew up in Huntington on Long Island.

I do!!!!
Lunch at the diner was just as good as it was last summer. I had the exact same thing I had then: THE GREEK SAMPLER. It was delicious. So was the soup (pasta fajoile)..I know that is not spelled right, but it is a bean and pasta soup in a light tomato sauce. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunatley, we had to pass on desert!
While we were having lunch I was looking over some of the brochures I picked up at the historical museum and found out that the BULLTHISTLE MODEL TRAIN MUSEUM was open so we went there after lunch.

Sidney and Unadilla MINI ADVENTURE
I went to Sidney to go out for lunch with Joyce and I took her to run a couple of errands. We had a nice lunch at the CHINA BUFFET.
I drove Route 7 home and I was trying to rememnber where I wanted to stop somewhere along the way........when I got to Unadilla, I remembered! MUSE: a Vintage Shop that a woman from my church runs.
I stopped and went in and looked around. I saw a very neat coat/hat/unbrella stand and asked if it is for sale. Darcy said she would do some research and find out how much its worth.

GREENE COUNTY Geocaching Adventure 1/13/14
Our first stop was in Prattsville, where we found three geocaches: one at a fishing access, one at a cemetery (Old Prattsville Cemetery)
and one in a park (Devasego Park) where we saw some interesting rugged handmade outdoor furniture.
Shortly after that we turned onto 23A and headed towards Lexington, stopping to find a few caches along the way. In Lexington, we stopped and I took a picture of this old hotel and peeked in the windows.
Then we found a cemetery not far away and found a cache there. Also, we noticed a small historical society in an old church
and stopped to look for information about when it is open. We could not find any.
From there we headed north on 17 stopping at another fishing access to find another geocache before getting to 23. We headed east towards Windham and stopped for lunch at the Catskill Country Store and Restaurant. Lunch was not one of the high points of the day, but I purchased some delicious cranberry chutney. This is something new since I was last at the Country Store:
Then we headed west on 23 towards Ashland and found another fishing access geocache before heading towards St. Josephs Chapel further west. Finding the geocache at the chapel was the pivotal point of our trip, but it turned out to be the very last place we cached. The chapel was unlocked and we went inside for a few minutes. And then we found the last geocache of the day, number 12 !!!
One last stop back in Prattsville, at the cemetery where Zadock Pratt is buried.

Short Afton Adventure
Today was a warm but rainy winter day. I invited Betty to go to Afton with me to the MAIN STREET GRILL AND BAKERY. She had been before and was eager to return and have another cream puff.
We arrived for an early lunch and we each had a cup of beef barley soup and we split a specialty sandwich (the New York Deli). It was very good! Then we split a cream puff, and altogether that was just the exact right amount of food! After lunch we went to the Variety Store right next door. We each purchased a few items. I was happy to find a new pair of clip on sunglasses for only $3.00.
It had stopped raining, so I suggested we take a side trip down a side road to Coventryville and Betty was all for that idea. We started down, but then the rain started to come faster and heavier and we thought it was getting colder and might turn to snow, so we decided to turn back. We took 88 back to Oneonta.
I ran a few errands after dropping Betty off.

New Years Eve DAY Adventure (12/31/13)
Leslie and I met up in Oneonta for a New Years Eve Day Trip and Geocaching Adventure. We took some back roads to get to the area we were planning to go to, which took us a lot longer, but we enjoyed some great winter scenery along the way. I think we got to Andes around eleven or eleven fifteen a.m. We quickly found three geocaches. One of them was among some very interesting stone ruins
and another one was very closeby. Then we went to the Andes Hotel for lunch. I had the bbq pulled pork and Leslie had the Hotel BLT, which had chicken in it. We spent about twenty minutes checking out a few shops nearby. Then we looked for another Andes geocache in a large cemetery, but we were unsuccessful.

It started to snow and it appeared that it was sticking, so we decided to head towards home on Route 28. We stopped for one more geocache at a very old cemetery.
It appears that this cemetery has not had any real maintenance in a very long time, but someone has recently placed a flag on a former soldiers gravesite.
Completing our drive back to Oneonta was a bit treacherous, but we made it just fine and then the snow stopped. I decided to go over to DragonScape and Lazer Tag because Kim's father died a few days ago, and family and friends were invited there at five p.m. Lots of food was offered and I had some, before heading home. .
