GREEK FESTIVAL in Buffalo, and more!!!! Friday 6/2/17

A week or so ago Mary Ann and I agreed to go together to Buffalo to visit the Franklin Roosevelt Inaugural Site.   Then our plans changed to going to the Buffalo History Museum and the Japanese Garden.  And then we changed our plans in order to go to the Albright Knox Museum,  But this morning when I was listening to WLVL, I heard about the GREEK FESTIVAL so we changed our plans to go to  First Friday at the Albright Knox and then to the Greek Festival.  Mary Ann is such a good sport............it was actually me making all of these changes.   :)

Anyways, she picked me up around nine a.m. and we headed towards Buffalo.  We found the museum easily enough.

We ran into Carrie with a group from her Day program.   The museum offers a mix of modern (ugh) and traditional art work.  We spent about an hour there, before heading to the Greek Festival.

The Greek Festival was held at the ANNUNCIATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH.  We had a hard time finding a place to park, but finally settled for a spot in a high rise apartment.

We started out with lunch.  I had the SOUVLAKI PLATE.  Tender chunks of beef souvlaki on a Greek salad with pita.  It was great!!!! (and only one olive to throw out)
here is where I purchased it.
Live music was offered.
in the tent and upstairs in a upstairs hall in the church
There were
lots of Greek baked goods available. Mary Ann bought some cookies.  I hit pay
dirt in YiaYia's Attic, purchasing a vintage table cloth, three pieces of colored glass including a "shoe" and a small clear glass item that I liked.  Here are the colored glass items.
..............all that for a total of $4.00.

I was disappointed that we did not get to go into the sanctuary.   Later on in the day they offer church tours.   We peeked through a window and it is magnificent.  Also, the Greek Dancing was scheduled for later in the day so we did not get to see that.

In spite of that, I think this is a very nice festival, and would go again.

On the way back to Lockport, we were going down Sheridan towards Millersport Highway so we decided to stop at Paula's Donuts since today is National Donut Day.
Paula's was giving away a free donut with every drink ordered!!!

It was a very nice day.
